About this Space
Ever felt like your parent's love came with a price tag?
Like your worth depended on how well you played the role he or she cast for you? Growing up with a narcissistic parent meant walking on eggshells, suppressing your own needs, and never quite feeling enough. The damage runs deep, but it’s real, and you don’t have to face it alone.
Children of a narcissistic parent often develop certain thought and behavior patterns as a result of their upbringing
Each week, we will unpack symptoms like fear of abandonment, people-pleasing, and attraction to toxic relationships.
Not every child of a narcissistic parent will experience all of these symptoms, and that’s okay. But seeing how these patterns show up in others’ lives can help us recognize their impact on our own, ultimately reminding us that we are not alone in our experiences.
Prompts for consideration:
-
How did your narcisssitic parent react when you expressed emotions like sadness or anger?
-
What’s something you’ve struggled to believe about yourself because of the your parent treated you?
