About this Session
Some relationships make us feel like we have to manage ourselves. Others just let us be.
Most of us can point to the person or the room where we first learned the difference. Some relationships came with an unspoken cost to being fully seen, and others didn't.
That lesson usually gets learned quietly. Nobody sits a kid down and explains the rules of masking. It gets absorbed through repetition, through what got a reaction and what didn't, until managing ourselves around certain people starts to feel less like a choice and more like a fact of life.
We'll contemplate both sides of that in this Space. The experiences that taught us when to put the mask on, and the rarer, sometimes harder to remember, experiences that taught us what it felt like when we didn't need to.
This session is an invitation to trace where that line came from, and to notice where it still runs.
About this Space
This is a Space for men to speak honestly about their inner lives, without needing to perform, fix, or prove anything.
In a world where expectations around masculinity are shifting, many of us are left sorting through conflicting messages about who we're supposed to be. Balancing projecting strength and vulnerability, aspiring to independence while yearning for connection, our frameworks for male identity don't always mesh easily. And for a lot of men, there aren't many places where that tension can be explored out loud.
This group offers a place to slow down and reflect in the company of other male-identified and masculine-presenting peers interested in sitting with complex questions. Together we'll explore identity, relationships, and emotional life. We aspire to take thorough inventory of the stories we've inherited about what it means to be a man.
There's no pressure to have it all figured out, just an invitation to be real, in whatever way feels right.
