Totem Newsletter! July

New Series Alert! Once Upon a Self

Let’s step out of our lives for a moment and into the magic of fairy tales together.
Led by Vanessa, this new six-week Series invites us to revisit the stories many of us grew up with, from Cinderella to Sleeping Beauty, and ask what they still have to tell us now.
These stories are full of beauty, danger, longing, survival, desire, and transformation. Each week, we’ll use one classic tale as a mirror for our own lives, exploring what we have outgrown, what we still ache for, and what may be beginning to wake up.
Once Upon a Self launches 08.06 at 9 PM EST. Click the link for more details or to sign up.

Community Care, Reimagined

July Newsletter 3

This week on the blog, Heather writes about COVID, Zoom fatigue, touching grass, and the very real magic that can happen when people find each other online.
In “Community Care, Reimagined,” she reflects on the complicated shift into digital life and why online support can be more than a backup plan. For many people, it is the most accessible doorway into connection, care, and community.

A Totem Story

Real connection. Real support. Real impact.

July Newsletter 4

"Totem has been a tremendous support and resource for both myself and professional work. As a licensed mental health counselor, it is rare to find spaces where people can show up and create community without cost or commitment. I have referred Totem Spaces to a number of clients needing connection outside of the therapeutic relationship. From my own engagement, I’ve benefited from openly reflecting on my own thoughts and feelings without needing to hold space for others. Totem isn’t performative and comes with little expectations on your engagement, so each person joining is able to interact in a way that supports their own reflection. It elicits a natural sense of community and vulnerability from which I think we all could benefit."

A Totem App Update

July Newsletter 5

A few months back, we teased the Totem mobile app, and yes, that is still in the works.
But before we bring Totem to your phone, we have another big step to share: the Totem web app!
In the spirit of accessibility, we want Totem to be available in the ways people actually need and prefer to connect. For some, that means joining from a phone. For others, it means having the ease, comfort, and spaciousness of a bigger screen.
So we have been making the web app a priority for launch, and so far, it is pretty amazing.
We will be rolling it out slowly, and we truly cannot wait to share it with you.
