Caring for Yourself While Caring About the World
About this Session
A session for exploring self-care, boundaries, and emotional wellbeing during difficult political times.
When the world feels heavy, taking care of yourself can feel complicated. Many of us want to stay informed, engaged, and responsive to what’s happening around us. But constant exposure to political conflict, injustice, crises, and an endless stream of information can leave us feeling anxious, exhausted, angry, hopeless, or emotionally depleted.
In this session, we’ll explore what self-care looks like when you care deeply about the world. How do we know when we need a break? What boundaries can help us stay engaged without becoming overwhelmed? How do we navigate guilt around stepping back, resting, or protecting our mental health when so much feels urgent?
Together, we’ll reflect on the relationship between activism, citizenship, empathy, and wellbeing. We’ll talk about burnout, doomscrolling, news consumption, emotional resilience, and the practices that help us sustain ourselves for the long haul.
This isn’t a space to debate politics or current events. It’s a space to explore how we care for ourselves while living through uncertain and often overwhelming times.
This session is for you if:
- You feel emotionally drained by politics or the news
- You struggle to balance staying informed with protecting your wellbeing
- You feel guilty when you disconnect or take breaks
- You care deeply about social issues but feel overwhelmed
- You’re looking for ways to stay engaged without burning out
- You want to build a healthier relationship with news, activism, or political engagement
You don’t have to choose between caring about the world and caring about yourself. Together, we’ll explore what it means to make room for both. 💛
About this Space
A space to explore how the world around us shapes who we are, including our values, fears, identities, and sense of responsibility. Together, we’ll reflect on living in complex systems, holding care and anger at once, and staying human, grounded, and connected while engaging with injustice, culture, and change.
How Does it Work?
This is an open, guided discussion led by your Keeper, Jesse. Each participant will have the opportunity to listen to and share experiences on anxiety, well-being, emotions, and whatever else comes up during the session.
When and How Do We Meet?
We meet digitally every couple of weeks to make participation easy for those with demanding schedules. Cameras are optional, and you’re welcome to join from wherever you are, even between shifts. We only ask that you find a private place to join or use headphones to help maintain the security of everyone present.
